Lucky enough to land an internship at the cool Indie record label the year the founder, Chris Lombardi, had just taken back the reigns, I worked with Lyle Hysen. Then Licensing Agent at Matador and now Licensing Agent at Beggars Group.
I spent my hours calling and mailing companies for him to send music their way for commercial use in TV Shows and ads.
Epic albums like ACME from The John Spencer Blues Explosion produced by Russell Simmons and others from Pizzicato Five, Cat Power, Liz Phair and more inspired me daily.
While there, Matador celebrated its 10th anniversary and I remember we landed a song in the credits of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode. Huge for the year 1999!
After licking a lot of envelopes, listening to hours of music and sharing space with amazing artists and record label employees, I left to work full-time at Knitmedia.
I am still linked up with these wonderful people and Lyle recently licensed my desk mate at Knitmedia’s song (who later became a singer/songwriter on Matador’s label) to Apple for a spot in their Christmas commercial.
